Earthcare St Kilda

What is Earthcare St Kilda

Earthcare St Kilda was formed in 1990 by a group of local volunteers to help research and protect the Little Penguin colony which lives on the rocks which form the St Kilda breakwater.

Since that time, while maintaining its original purpose, Earthcare St Kilda's membership has grown to provide volunteers from both the local and surrounding muninicapalies with opportunities to:

  • help enhance and protect the natural land and marine environments of the City of Port Phillip,
  • meet and work on environmentally based projects alongside other enthusiastic volunteers, and
  • learn from each other and scientific specialists about the amazing range of wildlife which inhabit this inner city location.

We do what we can where we are...

As our motto indicates, we have evolved into a 'hands on', project based group dedicated to improving the natural environment of the City of Port Phillip.

Still most well know for our work with the Little Penguins, projects currently being undertaken by Earthcare St Kilda members include:

  • Penguin Research
  • Penguin Guide service
  • Rakali Surveys
  • Northern pacific Seastar Removal
  • Foreshore and Reserve Revegitation
  • Port Phillip Nature Watch
